This tendency became clearly in 1950's U.S. The family was regarded as the cause of disease by the then psychiatry and became the target of treatment. But now many psychiatrist think that the family is very important for the community-based care of people with schizophrenia. The family is not the target of treatment, but the target of education now. This change is viewd as a positive step to reframe the role of family and remove the stigma from the family .
